Our good, dear friends over at Amazon have pulled the wraps off of what could be some very popular 10.1″ tablets and made them available for pre-order.
First up is the Toshiba Thrive. This very capable tablet comes in three varieties: 8GB ($429), 16GB ($479), and a 32GB ($579) models. On the surface, it sports a 10.1″ multi-touch display, supporting up to 720p video. For the artist in you, it boasts a 5.0MP rear camera, as well as a 2.0MP front facing webcam. Under the hood, it’s powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor which drives the Android 3.0 (aka Honeycomb) operating system. In addition, it has a gyroscope, accelerometer, e-compass, and GPS, as well as Wi-Fi b/g/n and bluetooth. For RAM expansion, included is a full-size SD card slot. The word on the street since it was unveiled at the CES show earlier this year is that this is a very cool device.
Next on the pre-order block is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1″ Wi-Fi only model. This baby comes in a couple of varieties: 16GB ($499) and 32GB ($599). On the outside, the device has a beautiful 10.1″ display running at 1280×800. It also includes a 3.15MP rear camera and a 2MP front webcam. Powering this jewel is a dual core ARM Cortex-A9 processor which support the Android 3.0 operating system. Best of all, the Galaxy Tab will release in just 3 short days on June 17th.
