App automatically detects potholes

There are plenty of apps available on the market that aim to connect users and enable them to share traffic and road updates, such as Waze. But a new app called Street Bump aims to track the conditions of roads automatically using a combination of advanced sensors, accelerometers and GPS tracking.

The app itself hasn’t been launched yet as it’s still being developed as a prototype, but it certainly opens up a lot of opportunities, particularly if the app collects data automatically and doesn’t involve any participation from users. However, there will be plenty of people with privacy concerns, which is something the developers will need to address if it’s to going to be popular and useful in the future.
