This storage unit consisting of small silicon cubes is called the SAI and was designed by Jiyoung Seo. Apparently Sai means ‘between’ in Korean, which is a great way of describing the unit as it allows the owner to use the space ‘between’ the blocks in anyway they please, although it looks particularly useful for books and notes. According to Yanko Design, to add a quirky twist the cubes also each have different ‘tactile sensations’ and some even light up.
The SAI is really functional and I love that you can customise the design and layout of the blocks to mix it up in anyway you like. But, I can’t help but think it looks too much like a huge version of the once popular kid’s game Lights Out!
