New software identifies Photoshopped images

A new kind of software program has been created, which allows you to detect images that have been tampered with using Photoshop.

The new program, created at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, uses eight different parameters to detect changes, like to face shape, body parts and different textures of skin.

Yes this new piece of software is very cool, but it also has huge implications when it comes to representations of celebrities and public figures in the media. For a long time many different groups have been asking for more transparency from our newspapers and magazines about which images have been edited and which haven’t. Let’s hope the media is forced to reveal the Photoshopped images (now that anyone could with this software) as it could help to give people of all ages a more healthy view of their own bodies.
