Wolfram Alpha is a lot of things. It’s a great way to search for obscure information with free-form search queries. It’s a great way to cheat on your Algebra homework. It’s a great way to impress your friends. On thing it’s not, though, is cheap. The iPhone app has been available on the AppStore with a hefty price tag, a price point most iPhone developers would never dare consider. But, in the spirit of the holidays (and to boost app sales, of course) Wolfram Alpha has reduced the price of its iPhone app to a more palatable .99 on the AppStore.

Wolfram Alpha is an iPhone app (and a website) that uses tens of thousands of algorithms, developed over 20+ years, to delivers amazingly relevant and info-packed answers to free-form search queries. Input a math problem however you like, and you’ll get the answer in seconds. Ask a geography question and Wolfram Alpha returns all kinds of geographical data. We tried asking it for a date once, but that didn’t go over so well. Other than that, though, the app is amazing.

The new price point isn’t exactly cheap, but at least it’s cheaper than the original price. The Wolfram Alpha iPhone app offer is only good through the end of the year, at which point the price goes right back to , so you’d better jump on this one quick. Seeing as how the iPhone-optimized Wolfram Alpha website is no more, the app is your best bet for cheating on the SATs. We kid, of course – we’ve already taken our SATs.
