HTCs capacitive stylus might be real, and coming soon

hd2 capacitive stylus listing HTCs capacitive stylus might be real, and coming soon

When HTC patented their “capacitive stylus” a few months back, we didn’t really take it seriously. Well, it looks like HTC was serious. One online retailer in the UK seems to be expecting HTC to start shipping an “HTC HD2 Capacitive Stylus” in the near future.

Now that we think of it, the capacitive stylus makes sense. HTC is moving towards using capacitive touchscreens on their smartphones, and unlike resistive touchscreens that register pressure-based inputs, capacitive touchscreens sense changes in electrical current. There are a lot of Chinese-speakers out there that are going to need a stylus of some sort to trace intricate Chinese characters on the HD2’s capacitive touchscreen, and possibly on the HTC Dragon/Passion later on. They know this – HTC hails from Taiwan, after all.

Price and availability information isn’t yet solid, but Clove is listing the stylus for about USD.
