HTC TouchFLO 3D 2.6 gets up close and personal

Windows Mobile fans have been clamoring for HTC to bring the HTC Hero’s Sense UI to Windows Mobile. HTC’s experience in custom-skinning Windows Mobile shows through in the Sense UI’s finger-friendly, multi-touch capable interface. Alas, the Hero’s Sense UI won’t be making the jump to Windows Mobile. Fortunately, HTC considers the “Sense” experience more of a philosophy on user experience than a user interface. And, the good news is that HTC’s Sense philosophy will be a major part of the next version of TouchFLO 3D. Case in point, the HTC TouchFLO 3D 2.6 UI that’s being prepped for duty on the upcoming Windows Mobile-powered HTC Leo.

The video below shows the not-yet-released TouchFLO 3D 2.6 UI (codename: Manila) looking all Sense-ified on an HTC Touch Diamond2. The Manila UI is similar to the previous version of TouchFLO 3D, but includes a revamped homescreen that looks a lot like the Android-based Sense UI. The new TF3D interface pops with color and seems to run really well on the Touch Diamond2. Most importantly, TF3D 2.6 hides almost all of Windows Mobile’s less savory elements.

Now, we just wait for HTC to go public with the HTC Leo. If the Leo comes anywhere close to its rumored specs, it’s going to be one seriously impressive device. Windows Mobile notwithstanding.

Compare the above video to this demonstration of the Android Sense UI.
