Mobiado is out with its second QWERTY handset called Mobiado Grand 350 Pioneer. Designed to “utilize the compelling beauty of meteorite,” this phone (its design) pays homage to NASA’s Pioneer 10 spacecraft launched 37 years ago to travel through Solar System’s asteroid belt. In that sense, each of the Grand 350 Pioneer units will have the limited edition number engraved on the right side, and the Pioneer 10’s launch date (March 3, 1972) engraved on the left. In a way, it’s a device made to keep the memory while making your wallet less thin than ever.

Speaking of wallet, the price was not unveiled, but considering the fact that only 37 of these will be made, I would go for few thousand bucks for a single unit.

Specs wise, there’s a HSDPA connectivity, WiFi, GPS, QVGA screen, 3.2-megapixel camera, and a 2.5mm audio jack. However, the real deal is in the battery cover which is made out of materials from the actual Gibeon meteorite — 90% iron and 8% nickel, plus small traces of phosphorus and cobalt — discovered in Namibia in 1836. There is also a variation of the Pioneer plaques engraved on the battery cover, the same that were placed on board of Pioneer 10 in order to provide info about the human race in case extraterrestrial beings intercept the spacecraft.

In a nutshell, the Mobiado Grand 350 Pioneer is a super expensive phone for super-rich, hard-core science fiction geeks… And now some images of the device.
