Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 passes FCC on its way to T-Mobile?

Things are looking good for T-Mobile (NYSE: DT) to pick up Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE)’s Android-powered XPERIA X10 in 2010. Last we heard, XPERIA X10 whitepapers hinted at the existence of an X10 variant with support for T-Mobile’s WCDMA Band IV (1700Mhz) frequency. Now, thanks to an FCC filing, we have confirmation that the X10 will indeed be capable of pulling down full 3G data speeds on T-Mobile USA’s wireless network.
The X10’s FCC approval on the 1700Mhz frequency isn’t a guarantee that we’ll see the sleek Android phone hitting T-Mobile in the coming months, but it’s an encouraging sign. With a little luck, we’ll see the XPERIA X10 and its 4-inch capacitive touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera, 1Ghz processor and slim form-factor offered on T-Mobile’s Even More financing plans. For Sony Ericsson’s sake, we’re hoping T-Mobile picks up this monster of an Android phone and subsidizes its likewise monstrous price tag down to reasonable territory.
