Wouldn’t it be cool if you could recharge your Android phone with water? Powertrekk by myFC is a new fuel cell charger that does just that. This innovate charging system uses Powerpukks that contain sodium silicide which produce hydrogen gas when combined with any kind of water.

“PowerTrekk Water Charger gives your mobile phone power anywhere at any time”, says Björn Westerholm, CEO at myFC. “From now on, you do not have to rely on having an electricity grid nearby.”

By Ed Oswald, Betanews

After nearly three decades on the market, Sony quietly stopped sales of its Walkman portable cassette recorder in Japan on Friday. While the company will continue to sell the model in developing countries, its exit from the Japanese market seems to suggest its time is running out.

“There is still demand in certain regions, including emerging markets, but in Japan there has been a shift to other forms of recording media,” a spokesperson said of the company’s decision. Indeed, Sony itself did its part to speed up the death of the market it had all but created on its own.

Voice Activated Crib Light is Relief for Parents and Children

Voice Activated Crib Light is Relief for Parents and Children

After hearing the horror stories from friends with newborns of days with little or no sleep for days at a time, I’ve learned to appreciate a god night’s sleep. Fortunately for those going through the transition of having a new baby in the house, someone empathizes with your plight. The folks over at ThinkGeek are selling a Voice Activated Crib Light with Womb Sounds.

Don’t throw away those tapes yet, Ion Tape Express can convert them to MP3

Don't throw away those tapes yet, Ion Tape Express can convert them to MP3

Though the technology revolution can be unforgiving, some kind folks are ever considerate. Because thankfully, they are working to satisfy the needs of those of us who are somewhat fazed by the speed at which we have been forced to adapt to latest “trends”, but still cherish the memories connected with retro days and secretly wish we could have it all.

LEGO LED lantern looks good, lights good

LEGO LED lantern looks good, lights good

lego-led-lantern.jpg

Somehow the thought of using this cute-looking LEGO lantern to get me through a dark path is visually more appealing to me than using the conventionally reliable torch.

And it may not be a big risk afterall, since the LEGO LED lantern claims to provide 360-degree lighting using 4 powerful white LED lights hidden within the torso. The hands hold up a swinging handle that you can use to hang the lantern on a hook or to carry it along a dark pathway. Just don’t forget to feed the boy with 4 AA batteries. That, always a pain.

Kidizoom camera provides for safe toddler entertainment

Kidizoom camera provides for safe toddler entertainment

kidizoomplus-camera.jpg

I often have to make the choice (read million times a day) between letting my toddler satisfy his curiosity on how my gizmos can contribute to his growing need to know everything, and extending their shelf life by that one more day by keeping them out of his reach. Taking the latter option almost always means that I get to savor my toys only when he is at school, or is blissfully asleep. Both of which happen to be the shortest events of the day.
