Microsoft takes on Evernote with Office OneNote on iPad

Microsoft takes on Evernote with Office OneNote on iPad

Microsoft on Monday quietly released an iPad-specific version of Office OneNote, the note-taking application in Microsoft’s Office suite.

At CES last year, Microsoft’s OneNote team admitted that few people were using OneNote even though it had been part of Office for the better part of a decade. As an application class that lent itself nicely to mobile use (evinced by Evernote) its utility on a PC was less than obvious.

Simplehuman Sensor Trash Can

Simplehuman Sensor Trash Can

simplehumansensorcan.jpg

In a perfect world, everything would be run by sensors. If you’re Bill Gates, your house is already programmed with sensor technology: when you walk in a room sensors track your presence and lights purr to life, paintings come alive, and a soundtrack starts to play in the background.

Facebook CEO: 'We are removing the connections privacy model'

By Scott M. Fulton, III, Betanews

In a move that may end up drastically scaling back what Facebook had hoped last month would be a redefinition of the Web itself, the social service will soon begin rolling out simplified privacy controls, according to a blog post today from CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The new controls may make it easier for Facebook users to limit the extent to which the system shares their personal information with others, especially including other Web sites.

The new PBS NewsHour: Pick and choose the news to use

The PBS NewsHour is undergoing major remodeling. That’s good news for US newshounds who need more than a flood of celebrity gossip followed by 20-second snippets of real news but don’t have time to watch an hour-long broadcast every evening.

The NewsHour has beefed up its online presence in a major way and also embraced podcasts, RSS feeds, Facebook, and Twitter. Even if you don’t own a TV, you can keep up with the NewsHour’s in-depth treatment of the day’s news automagically.
