Short Order Cook is an iPhone App that tests your memory!
Thursday, March 18, 2010 0:21 No CommentsZero Emission has announced the release of Short Order Cook, a fast-paced casual game that challenges players’ skills of recognition, concentration and trains their memory. In Short Order Cook, at the outset of each level a food image on a kitchen ticket and its matching tile are revealed for a short time. Once the tiles are flipped over, the challenge is to memorize the location of the matching pairs as quickly and as precise as possible. After all pairs of images have been revealed, the user needs to correctly select the matching tile for each kitchen ticket when it turns over.
Samsung have a smartphone with a 3D display?
Thursday, March 18, 2010 0:21 No CommentsWell yes, if the rumours are to be believed! TechDigest picked up on a story that came from Samsung Hub, regarding the SCH-W960 – apparently this device can do 3D via its screen, and not only that, can up-convert from 2D to 3D (now I think I’ve heard it all!). The device is apparently packing a 3.3 inch WVGA AMOLED screen, which is 3D capable – along with a comparably less impressive 3MP in the camera department. One other trump card it does have to play though is dual TV tuners – quite what standard really isn’t very clear though.
Samsung Corby Pro Coming to Rogers
Tuesday, March 16, 2010 13:26 No CommentsLooks like Rogers (NYSE: RCI) is all prepped to launch another QWERTY slider, this time in the form of the Samsung Corby Pro. As you can see from the internal launch flyer (leaked, above), the Corby Pro will be made available for .99 on a 3-year contract, 9.99 on a 2-year, 9.99 on a 1-year and 4.99 off contract. Designed for texting teens, the Corby Pro features a full 2.8″ QVGA touchscreen, full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, a 3.0MP camera with video, 3.5mm audio jack, Dual Band HSPA, Quad Band Edge, Bluetooth, WiFi, expandable memory to 32GB via microSD, and more. The device also features ‘interchangeable panel jackets’, which allow you to customize the look of your Corby Pro. I assume these are snap-on cases of sorts, allowing the younger set to clip them on to show-off their unique style.
Paid Apps Making Debut in Canadian Android Market
Tuesday, March 16, 2010 13:26 No CommentsOne of the biggest problems/hang-ups I’ve had with Android in Canada has been the lack of paid app action in the marketplace. For whatever reason, Google (NSDQ: GOOG) and the big Canadian carriers have had issues to sort out before paid apps were a go. Thankfully, it looks like those issues have been sorted, and paid apps are starting to appear. I should say, they’re starting to appear for folks on Rogers (NYSE: RCI) and Fido. Folks packing an Android device on TELUS (NYSE: TU) and Bell have reported scant reports of paid apps making their debut.
‘Zagat To Go’ Arrives for webOS
Tuesday, March 16, 2010 13:25 No Comments‘Zagat To Go’, the app that connects you to trusted ratings and reviews of thousands of restaurants all over the world, is now available for webOS! Yessir, Palm (NSDQ: PALM) Pre and Pixi users can now pop open the Zagat app to find nearby restaurants via GPS, check out service reviews, typical costs, top rated lists, browse by food types and decor… and much more. The Zagat to Go app is really quite powerful, and I dare say it’s a must have for anyone that does a lot of ‘finer’ dining week-in and week-out.
2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa coming to iPhone on April 27th!
Saturday, March 13, 2010 15:22 No Comments
Right from the floor of GDC, EA Mobile announced that 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will be released for the iPhone and iPod Touch on April 27!
Those attending the event (unfortunately I wasn’t there) had a chance to play the game, though I’m guessing it was not the build EA was demoing. PocketGamer was there but due to some NDA (I guess), they cannot share what they know at this stage.
SPB Software brings SPB Quads to Symbian touchscreen phones
Saturday, March 13, 2010 15:21 No Comments
SPB Software is bringing its popular puzzle title SPB Quads to Symbian S60 touch-enabled smartphones. The game, which is already available for the iPhone and Windows Mobile platforms, sees you putting together “all your pattern-finding skills to succeed.” The goal is to reveal and mark rectangles’ corners of the same colors in a field filled with color bricks, in a move that “destroys” them and earns you some points.
Qualcomm to bid in India’s BWA spectrum auction?
Saturday, March 13, 2010 15:21 No Comments
Qualcomm (NSDQ: QCOM) wants a piece of the ever growing Indian mobile market. But it don’t want to participate in the upcoming 3G spectrum auction — rather it wants to skip that step and bid for BWA radio spectrum that could be used for WiMAX and LTE services.
BWA auctions are set to begin two weeks after bidding for 3G spectrum ends.
Huawei’s SmaKit S7 Android tablet looks promising, sort of
Friday, March 12, 2010 4:20 No Comments
With the slew of tablets in tow for this year, one has got to fit the bill for everyone, eventually. Some people are pissing themselves in anticipation for the iPad. Those who want better hardware, and you know, Flash support ( as unimportant as it may be to some), are looking to other tablets, such as Notion Ink’s Adam or Dell’s Streak. Yet another tablet has been announced, and was displayed at CeBit this year- Huawei’s SmaKit S7, another Android tablet coming at some point this summer.
TweetPhoto makes it easy to share
Tuesday, March 9, 2010 6:20 No Comments
If you’re looking for an iPhone application to share photos across your social networks, you may want to give TweetPhoto a roll.
The site just got an overhaul – which prominently features photos of the Full House cast – and this new iPhone app makes it pretty simple to share pictures across Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, or Foursquare accounts. I downloaded the free app TweetPhoto Pro and it looks pretty good: it has a clean interface that makes it quick to scan your friends’ photo streams, as well as public or popular photos. Signing up is easy, and TechCrunch says we can expect versions for Android and BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) soon enough.
