Sony slashes S Tablet prices


Sony Electronics rang in 2012 with a surprising discount that may foreshadow much about the tablet market this year. Overnight I received email from a Sony spokeswoman saying the company “has permanently dropped the price of the Sony Tablet S by $100 starting today”. This follows what seemed like a temporary $50 discount right before Christmas. If you paid $499.99 or $599.99 before Santa’s sleigh ride, 16GB Sony S is now $399.99 and 32GB 499.99.

Next to cyberattacks, well-meaning insiders pose greatest security risk

Businesses are concerned about security, but which are the biggest and what are their strategies. Symantec explores these questions in their 2011 State of Security Survey.

Symantec commissioned Applied Research to conduct the survey in April and May of 2011. Thirty-three hundred organizations worldwide, across a range of industries and sized from 5 employees to many thousands were surveyed. Sixty-five percent of the organizations had 500 or more employees, weighing the survey heavily towards large organizations in terms of total seats.

Windows Mobile 7 damage report: Mixed assessments on the CES no-show

Oh. That’s right. There wasn’t one.

In fact, in front of the biggest batch of consumer electronics geeks known to man, Ballmer barely mentioned Windows Mobile at all, other than to say that Microsoft would have a lot more to say next month at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. (Previously, Microsoft had said Windows Mobile 7 was likely to be announced during the MIX conference in mid-March.
