Unreal 3 Demoed Running on iPhone 3GS
Wednesday, December 23, 2009 10:20Fire up your flak cannons, Unreal is going mobile. Epic has been working hard to bring their first-person shooter engine to the iPhone, and have produced this little tech demo to show everything running smoothly. Controls are still being ironed out, and they haven’t figured out how they’ll include tilt sensing, but right now the left side is used to control movement, tapping the gun on the right fires, and swiping from the crosshair determines rotation. I think it will take awhile before the experience will feel as fluid as on PC, but if consoles can pull it off, it’s only a matter of time before the iPhone can too. One of the developers is alluding to support for another mobile platform which they’ll show at CES in January – we’ll have to make a point to check out their booth…
